Return to Training and Covid Safety Information
There is a lot of information you need to read and abide by in order to make return to training safe for all coaches, volunteers and participants. Please take the time to read this (share with your child if applicable). Rachel Cassidy is the club’s appointed Covid Officer and any queries should be raised with her or the Coach of your session (Lindsay Bradley A-D, Jade Featherstone E-G, Elaine Gardner – Junior Sessions). The club email address is seatoniansnc@yahoo.com.
A huge amount of work has taken place over the summer in order to get the club back up and running, and I would personally like to thank Rachel for taking on the role of Covid Officer (a mandatory post we need to have) and all the coaches who have been integral in getting these plans in place. As a player we now ask you to play your part in adhering to the guidelines we have put in place to ensure everyone’s safe return to play. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and playing netball again!!

Return to Training – Affiliations and Opt In Form
If you haven’t already you must make sure you pay your or your child’s England Netball membership as they can’t take part in any training or competition until this is done. Please see Heja or your session’s WhatsApp group for instructions if needed. If you could also take the time to ensure your contact details are up to date in Engage (especially if you have moved in the last year) as we need these for test and trace purposes. You also need to ensure the Opt In form and relevant information on this is read and completed. Any queries contact your session Coach.

Transport to and from Training, Arrival and Departure at the Venue
As per Government guidelines, car sharing is not recommended and England Netball have supported this. Please think about how you will arrive to training to minimise contact with others.
Parking is in the same car parks as previous years. Parents will need to drop off at the car park and juniors will need to walk into the venue by themselves. The entrance to the Sports Hall building is the same. The only exception is any Under 11s - parents can walk their child to the door where a member of coaching staff will meet them. Once in the building, there will be a strict hygiene routine (see later box). As there will be football coaching going on, please ensure you maintain social distancing on your way into the venue.
We have changed the timings slightly to ensure there is less crossover between sessions. Therefore, the timings up until Christmas will be: Session 1 – 4.50-5.50, Session 2 – 6.00-7.00, Session 3 – 7.10-9.25.
On departure there will be a one way system, therefore we are planning on players leaving the Sports Hall building via the electronic doors. If parents of junior players wish to meet their child (as it will be dark when training sessions finish), they can enter the Sports Hall building (only at the exact finish time) and wait for them in the corridor and then depart using the one way system. Parents need to ensure they do not touch any surfaces and maintain social distancing at all times. Please note no spectators are allowed in the Sports Hall at any time!
Hygiene and Safety Procedures during Training
On arrival all participants will be asked to sanitise their hands. The club has purchased a large amount of sanitiser for this however if players wish to bring their own, that is fine. During training, coaches will build in breaks every 15 minutes and every player must sanitise their hands during this time. Balls must also be sanitised and you may be asked to help with this – players must sanitise their hands, sanitise the ball (using spray we have purchased) and then re-sanitise their hands before returning to practise. We have purchased new balls so there is no cross over of balls between sessions on the same night (hence the move to fortnightly sessions for the senior sessions). Bibs are also not allowed to be shared, again we have purchased new playing and training bibs to adhere to these guidelines.
All participants will be registered on arrival (for test and trace purposes) and health screening will take place. If you have any of the following symptoms you MUST NOT attend training:
Toilets will be available during the training session and these will operate on a strict one in, one out policy. There will be no changing facilities available therefore please attend dressed ready to train. You must bring a filled water bottle with you to training and there will be no sharing of water bottles (or equipment such as whistles). Water bottles should not be re-filled during the session therefore please ensure you bring enough for the 2 hour session. If anyone is injured during training, we have purchased PPE equipment for first aiders to help any player who needs it.
When not in drills or match play, strict social distancing must be adhered to – this means staying 2 metres away from each other. It is recommended coaches wear masks and we will adhere to this whenever possible, however when addressing the whole session this may not be possible. Coaches will however ensure they are socially distanced at all times. If you have any concerns, please speak to your session Coach.
Each training session will begin with a briefing where key reminders and information will be passed on. There will also be posters displayed at the venue with these reminders on.

- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

What do I do if I become ill after a training session or match?
If you have symptoms within 48 hours of a match or training session you must follow the Government guidelines on test and trace - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/nhs- test-and-trace-if-youve-been-in-contact-with-a-person-who-has-coronavirus/.
You MUST also let your session Coach know as we have strict regulations to adhere to with the venue and league – please ensure you have the contact details of your Coach. Once you have received your test result you must again inform your session Coach so we can put any procedures necessary into place. This is why I urge all players to ensure you keep up to date with all WhatsApp (Heja) messages and ensure contact details on Engage are up to date.

Modification to MatchPlay–(please watch- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWehcDeTh_A&feature=youtu.be
Please read the following information for new rules of play.
- 4ft spacing for the start of play – GS and GK are required to start inside their respective goal circles, GA, GD, WA and WD on the transverse line and the centres in the centre third. The modification requires all players to position themselves a minimum of 4ft away from their opposing players and teammates at the start of play. This will be managed by umpires at the start of play.
- 4ft marking – the defending distance has been increased from 3ft to 4ft. Particular attention must be paid in the circle when defending. This will be blown as distance.
- 4ft position of penalised player- penalised players for major infringements are required to position beside the player they infringed but from a distance of 4ft. This will be managed by umpires when an infringement occurs.
- Removal of toss ups – No toss ups are permitted, the team who had the ball directly before the action that caused the toss up to be awarded will retain possession. The umpire will briefly hold time, instruct the ball to be returned to the relevant team and play will be restarted on the umpire’s whistle.
- Removal of idle interactions – Players not engaged in play or who are stood still are required to be positioned 4ft away from another player. This frequently happens on the circle edge, on the transverse line, whilst walking back to centre pass and returning to the team bench at the end of a quarter. Managed by umpires and supported by players and coaches.
England Netball have been sending information via email and there are videos you can watch via the England Netball site. When playing in sessions we will be adhering to these new rules and all competition will also follow these.
OTHER UPDATES
Subs
As we are returning to training in September, we are asking that all subs are re-set up to begin payment from 1st October. We are keeping subs at the same monthly fee of £15 for senior sessions, for Years 6-9 £10 and for Years 5 and below £8.
Please note with costs increasing, we may have to increase subs however we are committed to doing everything we can to keep them the same for this coming competition year.
You should have the bank details however if you are new or can’t find the details, let us know and we will give you the account number and sort code.
Social Media and Website
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram as information is often posted on these. The website will also be used this year to post information when needed www.seatoniansnetballclub.co.uk – we are hoping to update the site this year.
Lots of information is also coming through WhatsApp (for senior sessions) and Heja (for junior sessions) so please keep on eye on these.
Photographic Consent Forms
We will be creating a Google Form for photographic consent for U18s and this will be sent round once the club is back in training. We thought there was enough for you to be filling in for now! – in the meantime, any pictures posted will not have U18s on them. Any queries about this please speak to the Coach of your session (Lindsay Bradley A-D, Jade Featherstone E-G, Elaine Gardner Junior Sessions).
Kit Update
Some people may want to buy kit and this should be up and running through Seatonians website in the next few weeks (we will let you know when this process is available). This will be online and you will be able to order and pay via PayPal. If you are new to the club or want to purchase a spare dress Rachel Cassidy does have a few dresses in stock so speak to her in the first instance.
